About Picklo Homes

Terry Picklo founded Country Builders, Inc., a Houston custom home builder, in 1981 after managing a lucrative lawn and garden management company. He built a few speculative custom homes the first two years, before deciding the custom home market was where he wanted to be. Terry’s son Nick, who grew up working with the various trades, joined the company full time in the late 90’s.

But, as the time-tested saying goes, "Nothing remains constant except for change." Change can bring growth, new beginnings, fresh perspectives, and better understanding.

Due to the company's growth into new areas, in an effort to reach the broader Houston custom home and remodeling market, as well as to provide more robust services to customers, Country Builders Inc. decided to rebrand as Picklo Homes. The rationale for this was twofold: First, we felt the "country" in Country Builders may mislead prospective clients to the conclusion the company builds only in the country or only country-style custom homes. Second, the name no longer continued to reflect the markets we now serve.

Having been raised in and around the Houston custom home building industry, Nick has a wealth of knowledge that he eagerly shares with clients to aid in the arrival of each individual to their destination. Nick is a Certified Graduate Builder, a licensed Real Estate Broker, and has spent the last 15 years in the custom home building and remodeling industry as Vice President for Picklo Homes, as well as head of their marketing department.

Picklo Homes was among Houston’s Top 100 Custom Home Builders, as ranked by Houston Living Magazine for the calendar years 2007, 2008, & 2009. We have been highlighted in The Builders Journal, as well as in the prestigious American Builders Quarterly.

We have been in business for nearly 30 years and offer unique incentives to our customers. We still operate with a strong sense of community, pride, and integrity, and have maintained a very consistent work ethic.
